Stu:  just listened and it was pants to my ears!! Neither the music or the vocals engaged me and I very quickly started thinking about other records to play instead!! It was BEIGE

Paul: I quite enjoyed the first couple of tracks but the minimal style and vocals got samey quickly for me. There's possibly a decent EP trying to get out of this (Ash Can and Diggers are also worth a listen) but being battered by the bass got a bit too much over the 35 minutes or so of the album.

Stu (again): Good observations Peej, I will cut and paste this!! 4 track 10" would be great

Ben: Yes I mostly agree with Paul - I didn’t mind having it on in the background while doing some other stuff but I don’t think I would particularly enjoy an ‘active’ listen - the songs seem too simple and I think the violin would jar a bit towards the end.

Dean: Yes. Well worth a listen and for those who found this offering a little too relentless (bass wise), Smiling Pools is their second album and there is indeed greater sophistication and less reliance on the bassist and more harmonising between male and female voices.

I enjoyed their ambition and admire the breadth and brevity of their political interests. To attempt a musical comment on Grenfell is brave. It'll stay in my library if only to mark an auspicious start.
Interesting development taking place here and you have to love that violin and the atmosphere it creates.
It's a ⭐ from me as you might have expected.

Stu (again): Listened to this LP 3 times now and I can’t shift from 5/10! You need records like this to make you go play your favourite ❤️
