Paul - I found this one of the hardest to appraise so far. There are various bits to like about it. The electronic gloom backing of 'Mars Man’ for instance (shades of OMD and Beck) and the title track stand out for me and he has a good voice. I certainly prefer those to the upbeat ‘pop’ style songs. I usually like a mix of styles on an album but this one seems to mix them in songs. It seems good at what it is but I’m not sure I quite get it. I’d file it under 'near-miss'.

Ben - I’m sorry I chose this. I really liked ‘meet the humans’ from 2016. Didnt enjoy ‘about the light’ as much (2019). This album has a lot of chanting and repetition in it but not much  melody (my favourite?) and it feels just a bit too downbeat for my liking - a lot of whingeing but no real hope or energy to do anything about it. I’m listening to ‘let it go’ now and I’m losing the will to live. The next one’s no better. I can sense some hooks as the album draws to a close but I’m already turned off. I shouldn’t have to try this hard to appreciate music, it needs to work harder to get me engaged.

Stu - It starts off brightly and I like I’m on my way. It’s playful and has lots of little hooks and motifs. I like the gospel sounding tracks and like the choir backing.  It starts to drag a little towards the end and becomes a little underwhelming. I think it’s a joyful record. But somehow it doesn’t catch fire or offer me any sustenance ! Most LPS have 2 or 3 bangers. It’s a solid enough effort but to me there’s no really HOOK! It’s a 6/10 from me
